Ladarian Trevon Welch, a 22-year-old African American man from Kendleton, Texas, was tragically shot and killed on January 20, 2018. The incident occurred when Welch confronted Johnny Bradshaw, who was speeding in a residential neighborhood. Welch asked Johnny to slow down multiple times, and Johnny eventually parked the car and got out along with his twin brother, Jonathan Bradshaw. Jonathan Bradshaw pulled out a gun and fired four shots at Welch, hitting him once in the leg and once in the chest, which resulted in his death.
Jonathan Bradshaw was arrested the following day and charged with murder. He was later convicted and sentenced to 60 years in prison for the killing. The Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office described the killing as inhumane and senseless, emphasizing that it robbed Welch of his future and his mother of her only son.
