Shakira Vega, a 21-year-old woman from Midland, Texas, tragically lost her life on January 22, 2018. She was found dead at the Santa Fe Apartments in Midland, alongside Steven Kuzminski, 29, both victims of gunshot wounds. The Midland Police Department determined the incident to be a murder-suicide, with Kuzminski believed to have taken his own life after killing Vega.
