Travae Monique Jackson, a 28-year-old woman from Midland, Texas, was tragically killed on September 27, 2021. She was born on June 1, 1993, and was well-known in her community for her lively and caring personality. Travae attended Midland High School and was an active member of Faith Tabernacle Pentecostal Church. She was deeply loved by her friends, family, and especially her nieces and nephews.
The investigation into Travae's death revealed that she had a protective order against
Kionne Devaughn Lewis, her former boyfriend. On the morning of her murder, Travae sent a video from her phone to another man, showing Lewis trespassing on her property. Travae also recorded a conversation with Lewis, in which she asked him if he was going to murder her. Shortly after, Lewis broke into Travae's apartment and shot her. He then used her phone to lure another man, Matisse Guidroz, to the apartment, where he shot him as well. Guidroz managed to escape and notify the police.
Lewis fled the scene but was apprehended the next day in Roswell, New Mexico. He was charged with capital murder and aggravated assault. The trial concluded with Lewis being found guilty on both charges. Due to the severity of the crime, he was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
