Aleksandra Rangel, a 20-year-old woman from Corpus Christi, Texas, tragically lost her life on January 24, 2018. The incident occurred during a robbery at the Dolphin's Landing Apartments on Weber Road. According to reports, the Corpus Christi Police Department received a call about a robbery at the apartment complex shortly after 9:45 p.m. While en route to the scene, they received another call stating that a 20-year-old woman had been shot. Upon arrival, officers found Rangel with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. She was rushed to Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital, where she eventually succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation revealed that after the robbery at the apartment complex, a vehicle fled the scene, and someone fired at it, hitting Rangel inside. The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as 20-year-old Alekzandra Rangel. The official cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head.
In connection with the incident, two men, 17-year-old Ricardo Martinez and 21-year-old Justin Arredondo, were arrested for their involvement in the robbery. However, they were not charged with the shooting. Additionally, 21-year-old Willie Greenwood was arrested on an outstanding murder warrant related to the crime. Greenwood was taken into custody by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and was held at the Nueces County Jail without bail due to the warrant for suspicion of aggravated robbery.
The tragic death of Alekzandra Rangel has raised questions about the level of security provided at the apartment complex. The Murray Law Firm, representing victims of violence and security negligence, has suggested that inadequate security measures, such as surveillance cameras, bright lighting, and security patrols, may have contributed to the incident. The firm has indicated that the family of Alekzandra Rangel may seek justice and pursue legal claims for her wrongful death.
