Johnathan Joey Mendoza, a 35-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity, died on August 2, 2018, in Hereford, Texas. He was involved in an officer-involved shooting that occurred on August 1, 2018. The Amarillo Police Department reported that Mendoza was the suspect they were attempting to arrest for multiple warrants, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault of a household member, impeding circulation or breathing, and terroristic threat.
