Demareyea Bazile, a 17-year-old male from Dallas, Texas, tragically lost his life on December 7, 2018. Bazile was shot in a car in southeast Oak Cliff around 4 p.m. that day and later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital. The incident also resulted in the death of another teenager, Deroyal Talley, 19, and injured a 16-year-old boy.
The Dallas Police Department arrested an 18-year-old suspect, Lexington Malik Wright, in connection with the shooting.
Wright surrendered to homicide detectives at the Dallas Police Jack Evans Headquarters on December 11, 2018, and admitted to shooting Bazile, Talley, and the juvenile victim. Wright was charged with capital murder and aggravated assault.
The victims were found inside a vehicle at 2700 Palo Alto Drive when police arrived at the scene. Dallas Fire and Rescue transported all three victims to local hospitals, where Bazile and Talley later died from their injuries. The third victim, a juvenile, underwent surgery and survived.
The Dallas Police Department continues to investigate the case and has asked anyone with information to come forward. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible for the felony offenses.
