Kristian Leonardo Perdomo, a 28-year-old
man from Tyler, was arrested shortly after the shooting on Highway 64. Perdomo was found guilty of murder in connection with Brockman's death. During the trial, prosecutors presented evidence suggesting that Perdomo was also involved in a string of other shooting deaths that occurred in Tyler in December 2018. These unsolved cases included the deaths of Mario Guzman, Jhoel Sevilla, Benny Jackson, and Jerome Jones. Although Perdomo has not been charged in connection with these other deaths, ballistic evidence linked the same firearm to all the shootings.
Perdomo's criminal history includes previous convictions for engaging in organized crime, assault, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Despite his history, Perdomo's defense attorney argued that his client joined a gang out of a need for friendship and had experienced abuse in his youth. However, the jury ultimately sentenced Perdomo to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
