Alejandro Camacho, a 15-year-old Hispanic male from Anna, Texas, tragically lost his life on March 8, 2019. The incident occurred during what authorities described as a "drug deal gone bad." Camacho was shot in the chest during a confrontation that took place inside a vehicle near the intersection of Wylie Farm Road and Creekview Drive in Anna. The driver of the vehicle rushed Camacho to Medical City McKinney, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation revealed that the
shooting was the result of a dispute over a drug transaction. Christopher Lamarr Sterkes, an 18-year-old from Anna, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with Camacho's death. Police learned that Sterkes had fired multiple shots at the vehicle as it drove away, with one bullet striking Camacho.
In addition to Sterkes, three other individuals were arrested in connection with the incident. Marcos Hernandez, 17, Mario Garcia, 18, and an unnamed juvenile were charged with robbery. Hernandez had arranged the meeting to buy marijuana, but he and the others planned to rob Sterkes. During the altercation, Sterkes was forced out of the vehicle and opened fire, hitting Camacho.
The case drew significant attention due to the young age of the victim and the circumstances surrounding his death. Anna Police Chief Jeff Caponera expressed deep condolences to the Camacho family and assured them that efforts would be made to ensure justice was served. The swift arrests and coordinated efforts of multiple agencies were crucial in bringing the suspects to justice.
