Donnie Evans Jr., an 18-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on March 17, 2019, in Fort Worth, Texas. Evans, a freshman at Tyler Junior College, was shot and killed at the Sycamore Pointe Apartments located in the 8000 block of Joshua Drive. The incident occurred during a large fight involving as many as 50 people. The altercation escalated when someone pulled out a gun, resulting in Evans being fatally shot.
When officers arrived at the scene around 9 p.m., they found Evans dead. A second man, who had also been shot, showed up at a nearby hospital and was listed in serious condition.
Evans was a former student-athlete at Wheeling Park High School, where he was known for his exceptional personality and athletic prowess. His death left a significant impact on the community, with many mourning the loss of a beloved individual. Despite the large number of people involved in the fight, no arrests have been made, and a suspect has not been named.
