On April 9, 2019, 18-year-old Bernadette Jean Quiroz, who was 7-months pregnant, was fatally shot outside a San Antonio apartment complex. Her mother, 37-year-old Janette Quiroz, was also killed in the incident. Bernadette was rushed to a local hospital but tragically died hours later.
