Joshua S. McJilton, a 27-year-old male of mixed ethnicity, tragically died on April 25, 2015, in Wauseon, Ohio. Joshua, a former U.S. Marine, was born on September 20, 1987, in Toledo, Ohio. He was originally from Wauseon but had been living in Oceanside, California, at the time of his death.

Joshua's death was the result of a shooting incident outside a bar in Wauseon. He was attempting to break up a fight between Romualdo Cordoba, Jr., and Cordoba's estranged wife, Melinda Cordoba, when he was shot. Romualdo Cordoba, Jr., was later charged with the shooting death of Joshua McJilton. Investigators revealed that Cordoba was involved in a domestic dispute with his wife in the parking lot of the bar, and Joshua intervened to help, leading to the fatal shooting.

Romualdo Cordoba, Jr., faced legal proceedings for his actions. He was indicted on charges of domestic violence and murder. In November 2015, a jury found Cordoba guilty of involuntary manslaughter and sentenced him to 11 years in prison. Additionally, he received a 30-day sentence for domestic violence. During the sentencing hearing, Cordoba expressed remorse for his actions, and Joshua's family gave emotional statements, expressing their grief and anger.

The case drew significant attention, and Joshua's family has continued to seek justice and closure. They have stated that while the sentencing of Cordoba is a step towards justice, it will never fully compensate for the loss of Joshua. The family has chosen to forgive but not forget, and they continue to honor Joshua's memory.

Joshua McJilton's death has left a lasting impact on his family and the community, and his legacy lives on through the love and memories shared by those who knew him.
