Chad D. Spiess, a 51-year-old male of Caucasian ethnicity from Delta, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on April 16, 2014, at his home due to a hunting accident. Chad was born on August 14, 1962, in Wauseon, Ohio, to Sue Spiess and Merril L. Spiess. He was a 1981 graduate of Delta High School and worked for the Ohio Department of Transportation for 19 years, serving as a sign crew supervisor. Before his career with ODOT, Chad was an owner and trainer of Thoroughbred racehorses. He enjoyed hunting, trading, and looking for mushrooms at his property up North. Chad was known for his love of his son, family, and friends, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
There were no arrests, suspects, litigations, murder cases, or investigations related to Chad Spiess's death, as it was determined to be an accidental hunting incident. The Wauseon Police Department did not conduct any criminal investigation into his death.
Chad is survived by his father, Merril L. Spiess; his son, Cody Spiess; his life companion, Lisa Minnick; his brother, Shane Spiess; his sisters, Jodie Spiess, Cindy Parker, and Jill Shehorn; his former wife, Linda Viers-Rorick; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held for Chad at Delta United Methodist Church, and he was interred at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta, Ohio.
