Koelenzie Cameron Mills, a 31-year-old male from Amarillo, Texas, tragically lost his life on May 23, 2019. He was shot multiple times in the upper body at the Legends After Hours Club on Amarillo Boulevard around 3:22 a.m. Despite immediate medical attention, Mills succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The Amarillo Police Department Special Crimes Unit launched an investigation into the incident.
Through their efforts, they identified Anthony Laquin Price, a 24-year-old male, as the suspect responsible for the shooting. Price fled the scene but was later located and arrested in Corsicana, Texas, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshal Task Force. He was charged with murder, evading arrest, failure to identify himself as a fugitive, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
In November 2019, a Potter County grand jury indicted Price for the murder of Koelenzie Mills. The case highlighted the collaborative efforts of local and federal law enforcement agencies in bringing a suspect to justice.
The loss of Koelenzie Cameron Mills was deeply felt by his family, friends, and the community. His funeral was held on June 1, 2019, at the Pentecostal Temple Church in Amarillo, Texas. He was laid to rest at Llano Cemetery, leaving behind a legacy of love and remembrance.
