On the evening of April 22, 2025, Ethan was shot inside his vehicle at Benton Park, located in the 1400 block of South Vernon Street in Amarillo. Amarillo Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 7:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Ethan suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate first aid efforts by officers and paramedics, Ethan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following an investigation by the Amarillo Police Department’s Homicide Unit, authorities identified the suspected shooter as a 13-year-old male juvenile. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Youth Center of the High Plains on a charge of murder.
