Sara Elizabeth Hudson, a 22-year-old woman from Dallas, Texas, tragically passed away on August 19, 2019, which was also her birthday. She was known for her beauty, confidence, cleverness, charm, and loving nature. Sara had recently graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was working as a Logistics Sales Account Executive at Schneider Transportation in Dallas.
She was also an avid fly fisherman and cherished the summers she spent fishing in Montana with her family.
On the night of her death, Sara was planning to celebrate her birthday at a local bar in the Lower Greenville neighborhood of Dallas. However, she never made it to the party. Surveillance footage showed her parking her car and getting out before Glen Richter, a 49-year-old man, forced her back into the vehicle. Richter then made Sara drive to an ATM, where she was instructed to withdraw $700. After taking the money, Richter sexually assaulted Sara and shot her before setting her car on fire. Firefighters discovered her body inside the burning SUV later that night.
Glen Richter was arrested on a capital murder charge the day after Sara's body was found. His fingerprints were found on the vehicle, and a witness provided a description of him that matched the suspect seen on the surveillance footage. In May 2021, Richter pleaded guilty to murder as part of a plea deal, which ensured he would spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole for 30 years. Sara's family approved the deal, wanting to ensure that Richter would not harm anyone else.
Sara Hudson's death was a tragic and senseless act that deeply affected her family, friends, and community. She was remembered as a kind, supportive, and joyful person who loved the great outdoors and had a beautiful laughter that resonated with those who knew her.
