Ryan Jaden Jordan McGowan, a 19-year-old male from Houston, Texas, tragically lost his life on September 6, 2019. His death was part of a violent crime spree carried out by Christian Ivan Cavazos, a 22-year-old gang member. Cavazos was involved in multiple shootings throughout 2019, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, including McGowan.
On the day of McGowan's death, Cavazos and his associates were riding in a vehicle when they opened fire on another car, hitting McGowan, who
was seated in the backseat. McGowan succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The investigation into the crime revealed that Cavazos had mistaken McGowan's vehicle for that of a rival gang member.
Following a thorough investigation by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI, Cavazos was arrested and charged with multiple counts of murder. In court, Cavazos pleaded guilty to three counts of murder, including the killing of McGowan. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
