Upon arrival, the police found the lifeless bodies of the children and their mother. The Harris County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the deaths as a murder-suicide, with Ashley Auzenne identified as the perpetrator.
Ashley Auzenne had recently finalized her divorce from Murvin Auzenne Jr., the children's father, just a week before the tragic event. The divorce and the associated stressors, including Ashley's battles with depression, anxiety, and physical ailments such as arthritis and lupus, were contributing factors to the incident. Ashley had also been an anti-gun violence activist, which added a layer of tragic irony to the circumstances.
The family was deeply affected by the loss, with the children's paternal grandfather, Murvin Auzenne Sr., expressing the family's devastation. He described the children as amazing and well-behaved, and the community was equally shocked and saddened by the event. Grief counselors were made available at the children's school to help students cope with the loss.
There were no arrests or suspects pursued in this case, as the investigation concluded that the mother was responsible for the deaths.
