Adrienne Christa-Fay Lambert, a 14-year-old girl from Deer Park, Texas, tragically passed away on December 17, 2017. She was an eighth-grade student at Fairmont Jr. High and was looking forward to attending Deer Park High School. Adrienne was known for her loving and genuine personality, her love for sour foods like pickles and lemons, and her active participation in theatre and sports.
Adrienne's death was the result of an accidental shooting.
On the day of the incident, Gene Roessler left a loaded handgun on his kitchen table before leaving for work. Later that afternoon, his young son found the weapon and decided to show it to his friends. The child, who is now serving time at a juvenile facility, allegedly pulled the trigger thinking the weapon wasn't loaded. The bullet struck Adrienne in the chest, leading to her untimely death.
Following the tragic incident, Gene Roessler was sentenced to 30 days in prison, two years of probation, a $4,000 fine, and 300 hours of community service. His wife, Katherine Roessler, was also charged and pleaded guilty to making a firearm accessible to a child. She was sentenced to community service.
Adrienne's mother, Marentha Sargent, has since become an advocate for gun safety, urging parents to teach their children about the dangers of firearms and to report any unsafe situations to adults. She has also shared her story to help prevent similar tragedies from happening to other families.
Adrienne's death has left a lasting impact on her family and community, who continue to remember her fondly and honor her memory.
