David Anthony Devora, a 20-year-old male of Hispanic ethnicity from Abilene, Texas, tragically passed away on December 31, 2019. David was born on October 8, 1999, and was known for his kind and generous nature. He was an active member of his church, played tennis and the trumpet in school bands, and loved spending time with his family.
David's death was the result of a fatal shooting during an attempted robbery at his cousin's residence in the 2500 block of Rountree Drive in Abilene.
On New Year's Eve 2019, a group of five individuals, including Creshawn Howard, went to the residence with the intent to rob David of marijuana, money, and other valuables. During the incident, Creshawn Howard fired a shotgun through the front door, fatally shooting David.
Following the tragic event, law enforcement authorities launched an investigation that led to the arrest of five individuals involved in the crime. Creshawn Howard was sentenced to 45 years in prison for his role in the murder. Isaiah Arredondo, another participant, received a 20-year sentence as part of a plea agreement. Rodaesia Winter Hines, who instigated the robbery to raise bail money for her boyfriend, was sentenced to 55 years in prison. Michael Wright-Collazo and Tyree Tyshawn Neal also pleaded guilty and received 15-year and 20-year sentences, respectively.
