Galina Tenzeyevna Taypina, a 68-year-old woman of Russian ethnicity, tragically lost her life on April 27, 2020, in an apparent murder-suicide incident at the Sedona Ranch Apartments in San Antonio, Texas. She was found dead alongside her daughter, Karina Kleberovna Sornoza Deitering, 37, and her two grandchildren, a 3-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl.
The incident was discovered by the children's father, who had been trying to contact his estranged wife, Karina.
According to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus, Karina Deitering had recently lost custody of her children. Investigators believe that she shot her two children and her mother before taking her own life. The father of the children, Jason Dietering, made the horrific discovery when he looked through a window of the apartment and saw the bodies inside. He immediately contacted the authorities, who confirmed the tragic scene.
No arrests or suspects have been named in connection with the deaths, as the incident was determined to be a murder-suicide. There have been no litigations or ongoing investigations related to the case, as it was concluded that Karina Deitering acted alone. The Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office has not listed a cause and manner of death for either Taypina or Deitering.
The community was deeply affected by the tragedy, and the victims were laid to rest together at the request of the children's father. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impact of domestic disputes and custody battles on families.
