Betty Jean Nickell, an 86-year-old woman from Haltom City, Texas, tragically died on May 29, 2020, from a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medics who responded to the incident. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when Betty's husband, William Nickell, called 911 to report that he had shot her. William Nickell, who was 87 years old at the time, surrendered to police without incident when they arrived at their home on Ira Street.
