The Mesquite Police Department responded to reports of gunshots at around 10:25
p.m. and found Raymond Haydel deceased with a gunshot wound to the head inside the residence. As they continued their search, they discovered Alexa and Natasha Haydel, both with multiple gunshot wounds, also deceased at the scene. Investigators believe that Raymond Haydel shot both of his daughters before committing suicide.
The Haydel family had been going through a difficult time, as Raymond Haydel and the girls' mother, Michelle Chapman, had filed for divorce in 2012. The girls were visiting their father in Mesquite when the tragic incident occurred. The Forney Independent School District expressed deep condolences to the family and extended support to the Forney community, which was deeply affected by the loss.
No arrests or suspects were involved in this case, as it was determined to be a murder-suicide. The investigation concluded that Raymond Haydel was the sole perpetrator.
