Eric Wayne Rodgers, a 35-year-old man from Copperas Cove, Texas, tragically passed away on June 15, 2020, in Killeen. Rodgers was born on May 18, 1985, in Bryan, Texas, and spent his childhood in Fort Worth, Bryan, and Copperas Cove areas. He attended Copperas Cove High School and worked for Old School Mobile Home Releveling, where he had 22 years of experience in leveling mobile and pier and beam homes.
In his free time, Rodgers enjoyed mudding in his truck, playing with his kids, football, poker, fishing, and drinking beer.
Rodgers' death was the result of a shooting incident in the 400 block of North 7th Street, Copperas Cove. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Rodgers with two gunshot wounds. He was transported to Advent Hospital in Killeen by Copperas Cove EMS, where he was pronounced deceased. Another individual, Darien Selby, was also injured in the incident, suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The Copperas Cove Police Department launched a homicide investigation into Rodgers' death. Captain Jeremy Alber of the Copperas Cove Police Department stated that they were seeking information from the public to help identify the offender. The police department urged anyone with information to contact Copperas Cove Crime Stoppers, which offered a cash reward for information leading to an arrest and prosecution.
Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests or suspects have been publicly identified in connection with Rodgers' death. The case remains open, and the Copperas Cove Police Department continues to seek information from the public to bring those responsible to justice.
Rodgers is survived by his wife, Lisa Marie Lynch, and their children: sons Lestat Rodgers and Jimmy Rodgers, and daughters Mystre Lynch, Felicity Rodgers, and Arianna Rodgers. He is also survived by his parents, Robert Jones and Patsy Rogers, his brother Christopher Lee Jones, his sister Candice Nicole Jones, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Rodgers was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
