On August 1, 2020, Francisco Javier Guzman-Galindo, a 51-year-old Hispanic male from Pharr, Texas, was found dead in the passenger seat of a vehicle near Mile 12 ½ North Road and FM 493 in rural Donna, Texas. The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area after receiving reports of a shooting. Guzman-Galindo was discovered deceased, while the driver of the vehicle, a 35-year-old man, was found injured but survived and was taken to a local hospital.
The investigation revealed that the shooter, identified as Javier de Salgado, also known as Pedro Silva Flores, and the driver, Miguel Angel Feliz Ojeda, might have fled to Mexico. Both suspects were wanted for murder and criminal attempt capital murder, and warrants were issued for their arrests. The motive behind the shooting remained unclear, and the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit continued to follow up on several leads.
The case drew significant attention from local law enforcement and the community, as authorities sought to bring those responsible to justice. The Sheriff’s Office urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
