Ricardo Medina-Madriz, a 27-year-old registered nurse and graduate student at the University of Texas at Arlington, was tragically shot and killed on August 9, 2020, in Dallas, Texas. The incident occurred near the home of a woman Medina-Madriz had gone on a date with that evening.
The suspect, Jorge Esparza, was identified as a 22-year-old man who had been stalking the woman. Esparza had previously been involved in an on-and-off relationship with the woman and became obsessed with her.
