On November 9, 2022, a violent altercation took place in Webster Groves, a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri, resulting in the death of 40-year-old Marcus Johnson. Police officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Almentor Avenue near Ivory Crockett Park around 7:30 p.m. following reports of a disturbance. Upon their arrival, first responders discovered the male victim suffering from a critical stab wound to the chest.
Despite emergency efforts to save him, he was transported to a local hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
Investigators at the scene determined that the stabbing was not a random act but likely an isolated event involving individuals known to one another. Johnson, who was a resident of the nearby community of Jennings, had been at the Webster Groves location when the dispute escalated into violence. Law enforcement officials were able to quickly secure the area and identify a suspect immediately following the incident.
Police arrested 44-year-old Darryl Ingram at the scene of the stabbing. Ingram, a resident of the Benton Park West neighborhood in St. Louis, was taken into custody without further incident. The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged him with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Following his arrest, a judge set his bond at $150,000, cash-only, as he awaited further legal proceedings regarding his alleged involvement in the fatal encounter.
