He was the backseat passenger in a Chevy pickup that was fleeing from a disturbance when the suspect, Penny Price, 19, shot at the moving vehicle. The shooting occurred near the intersection of Lowery Street and North Timberland Drive around 3:10 a.m. Elvin was fatally wounded and taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Penny Price was arrested and charged with murder in connection to Elvin's death. She remains in the Angelina County Jail on a $75,000 bond, and the investigation is ongoing with more arrests expected. Another suspect, Deedrick Renfro, 23, was also arrested in connection to the shooting. The investigation revealed that Renfro was the shooter, and he was taken into custody.
