Andrea Brook Brinlee Stinson, a 31-year-old white female from Granbury, Texas, was tragically found shot to death on November 15, 2020, in a shed at the home she shared with her boyfriend. Stinson, who was also known as Andrea Brinlee, was supposed to pick up her three young children that afternoon but never showed up. Her death was ruled a homicide.
For nearly three years, the Hood County Sheriff’s Office, along with multiple agencies, tirelessly investigated the case.
Despite the cooperation of Stinson's boyfriend and others close to her, no arrests were made initially. However, the family of Andrea Stinson, particularly her mother Tanya Brinlee, had a strong suspicion that her boyfriend, Richard Metten, was responsible for her death. Tanya Brinlee even claimed to have had a dream in which Andrea told her that Metten was the perpetrator.
On July 14, 2023, nearly three years after Andrea's death, Hood County officials announced the arrest of Richard Metten. Metten, who was already serving time for seven felonies including aggravated sexual assault of a child and trafficking, was charged with Andrea's murder. The Hood County Sheriff’s Office stated that the arrest marked a notable step in the progress of the investigation. The family expressed relief at the arrest but acknowledged that it did not bring closure.
The case is now pending trial, and the focus has turned to Andrea's three children, who are now teenagers. The Hood County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Rangers continue to work on the case, and Texas Crime Stoppers has offered a cash reward for any information leading to further arrests or convictions related to the crime.
Andrea Stinson was remembered as a vivacious and caring individual who loved life and her three children. Her family continues to seek justice and closure for her tragic death.
