Caleb Alexander Clark, a 23-year-old male from Ennis, Texas, tragically passed away on December 4, 2020. He was born on April 24, 1997, and grew up in Ennis, where he graduated from Ennis High School in 2016. Caleb worked at Target Warehouse and was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ennis. He was also a member of the 2014 State Champion Football team and enjoyed playing various sports.
Caleb was known for his ability to bring laughter to everyone he met.
Caleb's death was the result of a violent incident involving multiple suspects. On December 4, 2020, Dontriel Alexae Perry, a 24-year-old male from Ennis, and another unidentified suspect drove up to Caleb and two other individuals in a white SUV. Perry opened fire, killing Caleb Clark and Rodney Dent II, both of whom sustained thirteen gunshot wounds each. The incident occurred in front of Caleb's grandmother's home in Ennis.
Following a thorough investigation led by the Ennis Police Department, Dontriel Perry was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole on June 23, 2023. The investigation revealed that Perry and the other suspect were angry at Caleb and Rodney due to a personal conflict involving Perry's ex-girlfriend. Perry admitted to handling a firearm of the same caliber used in the shooting and driving past the house where the incident took place.
The case was prosecuted by Ellis County and District Attorney Ann Montgomery, with lead investigator Detective Sgt.
