Police arrested Lamont Cousins, 44, and Andrew Vandermeer, 32, on charges of capital murder. The motive behind the killings is believed to be related to a dispute over a repossessed car that Cousins sold to the car lot. Cousins had sold a red Dodge to Clayton Turrentine for $10,000, but the car had a lien on it and was repossessed. This led to an altercation between Cousins and Turrentine, which is suspected to have sparked the tragic events.
The families of the victims have expressed their grief and confusion over the senseless loss. Veronica Jones was remembered as a loving and generous person who would give anything to help others. Her daughter, Cayley Jones, described her mother as the character of the family, loud and obnoxious in the best way, opinionated, and loving fiercely.
The case remains under investigation, and the suspects are awaiting trial for their alleged involvement in the murders. The community continues to mourn the loss of these three individuals and seeks justice for their untimely deaths.
