Yellowstone apartments in South Houston. Surveillance footage revealed that Browne was shot by Jarell Carelone Barrows and his accomplice, James Duplechain, during an apparent robbery attempt. The footage showed Barrows pointing a gun at Browne's head and shooting him twice, ultimately leading to Browne's death.
The Houston Police Department released surveillance photos of the suspects, leading to the arrest of both Barrows and Duplechain. Duplechain accepted a guilty plea and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Barrows faced a trial and was ultimately sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the capital murder of Browne.
