On May 13, 2021, Christopher Frank Eiglebiger, a 33-year-old man from Tyler, Texas, was tragically found dead in his home located in the 800 block of Crosby Street. Eiglebiger had been shot multiple times, and evidence indicated that his death was targeted. The investigation into his death revealed that it occurred during a home robbery.
Two suspects, Dakevian Beniot Scroggins, 29, and Zaccheus Dunn, 27, both from Tyler, were charged with capital murder in connection with Eiglebiger's
death. Scroggins evaded arrest for over a month before being captured and charged with capital murder, evading arrest, and a parole violation. Dunn was arrested two days after the incident. Both men were later indicted on capital murder charges.
In March 2024, Zaccheus Dunn pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 44 years in prison. Dakevian Scroggins also pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of murder and received a 50-year prison sentence.
