Davion Potts, a 22-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on December 12, 2021, in Houston, Texas. Potts was gunned down inside Primos Food Mart at Old Bammel-N. Houston Road and Hwy 249. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Potts was targeted and followed into the store by the shooter, who fled the scene after the shooting. Potts was out on a $75,000 bond at the time for a murder charge stemming from a December 2020 road rage incident.
In that incident, Potts was accused of firing three rounds into the truck of 47-year-old Travis Rowden, resulting in Rowden's death. Potts was arrested four days later and was awaiting trial when he was killed.
The murder case against Potts for the death of Travis Rowden has since been dismissed following Potts' own death. Rowden's sister, Angela Pesina, expressed her shock and sadness over Potts' death, stating that she had hoped Potts would have the opportunity to change his life for the better. She never wanted him to die, despite the pain caused by her brother's murder.
Homicide investigators believe that Potts' killing was a targeted attack, possibly in retaliation for the 2020 road rage incident. The shooter has not been apprehended, and the investigation into Potts' death is ongoing. The case highlights the cycle of violence and the tragic consequences that can result from such incidents. Potts' death has left a lasting impact on both his family and the family of Travis Rowden, as they continue to grapple with the loss and seek justice for their loved ones.
