Johnnie Mobley Jr., a 61-year-old man from San Antonio, TX, tragically lost his life on January 17, 2022. Mobley was taken to a hospital but succumbed to
his injuries later that night. The other victims, including two men aged 37 and 57, and two women aged 43 and 34, were also hospitalized. The San Antonio Police Department launched an investigation but initially struggled to locate the shooter.
On April 7, 2022, the Bexar County Grand Jury indicted 18-year-old Ol Wallace for the murder of Johnnie Mobley Jr. Wallace was charged with murder and four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The indictment alleged that Wallace intentionally and knowingly caused Mobley's death by shooting him with a firearm. Wallace was also accused of injuring four other individuals during the incident.
In August 2023, Wallace was convicted of Mobley's murder and sentenced to 45 years in prison. During the trial, evidence was presented showing that Wallace was a member of the Crips gang and had videos on his cellphone of him waving around the alleged murder weapon. Mobley's sister tearfully testified about the devastating impact of his loss on the family.
