Shanique Shameion Alex, a 25-year-old woman from Dallas, Texas, tragically lost her life on March 9, 2022. She was found shot in the driver's seat of a car in the 3800 block of East Illinois Avenue. First responders discovered her with a gunshot wound to her upper back and transported her to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. A second victim, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was also injured but remained in stable condition.
The Dallas Police Department has been
investigating Shanique's death and believes she was not the intended target. Detectives have identified a red Chevrolet Impala, likely a 2014 or 2015 model, as a key piece of evidence. The car has a significant dent in the driver's rear passenger door and sport rims. Surveillance footage shows the car at the scene, and police are urging anyone with information about the vehicle or the incident to come forward.
Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made, and the case remains unsolved. Dallas Police Homicide Detective Guy Curtis has appealed to the public for help in identifying and locating the shooter. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment.
Shanique was a mother of two and was driving family members to a neighborhood store when the shooting occurred. Her death has been described as a senseless act of violence, and the police are determined to find justice for her and her family.
