John Franklin Thomas Jr., a 44-year-old man from Atlanta, Texas, tragically lost his life on March 11, 2022. His death was part of a double homicide case that also claimed the life of Jennifer Archer. The investigation revealed that both victims were found shot and deceased inside a camper that was subsequently burned to the ground. The weapon used in the murders was later recovered and confirmed by forensic testing to be the murder weapon.
Charles Spraberry, the suspect in the case, was arrested and charged with capital murder, among other charges. He initially escaped from custody but was later re-captured in Louisiana. Spraberry eventually pleaded guilty to the capital murder charges and several other offenses, including assault causing bodily injury, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, escape with a deadly weapon, and assault on a public servant.
