Elijah J'aMal Smith, an 18-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically lost his life on July 28, 2022, in Atlanta, Texas. He was found shot in the backyard of a home in the 100 block of Polk Street around 1:45 p.m. that day. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Smith suffering from a gunshot wound and immediately transported him to the Atlanta Fire Department before airlifting him to Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport in critical condition.
