Kerstin Marie Taylor, a 56-year-old woman experiencing homelessness, tragically lost her life on March 13, 2022, in Bexar County, Texas. The incident occurred at the residence of Michael Dines, a 52-year-old man who invited Taylor to his home. Dines left to buy groceries and wine, leaving Taylor alone. Upon his return, Dines mistakenly believed Taylor was a man and shot her, killing her instantly.
He later admitted to the murder, claiming he felt justified in his actions.
The Bexar County District Attorney’s Office took up the case, and Michael Dines was charged with murder. The grand jury indicted Dines, and the case went to trial. On April 18, 2024, a jury sentenced Dines to life in prison for the killing of Kerstin Marie Taylor.
