In the late hours of a Wednesday evening, the life of Nikita M. Boston, a 36-year-old mother of two, was tragically cut short. On May 25, 2016, she was found shot to death in her vehicle, which was still running with its lights on in the driveway of her home in the 1100 block of East 66th Street in Kansas City, Missouri. Earlier that evening, Boston had been with her sisters, happily planning her upcoming birthday. She left her sister's house around 10:45 p.m. in good spirits. Shortly after 11 p.m., police were called to her residence after reports of gunshots.
Boston was a beloved mother who was still grieving the loss of her oldest son in 2013. She was remembered by her family as an excellent cook who specialized in baking. Her employer, Validity Screening Solutions in Overland Park, where she worked as a client relations specialist, recalled her as having a lively, charming, and outgoing personality that endeared her to colleagues and clients alike. Her death was the 38th homicide in Kansas City in 2016.
The Kansas City Police Department investigated the shooting, but the case remains unsolved. Relatives expressed their shock and confusion, stating they had no idea who would want to harm her. The case, with the report number 16-37176, is listed among the unsolved homicides in Kansas City. Authorities have asked anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact the TIPS Hotline. As of now, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the murder of Nikita Boston.
