Judiria Jeannette Nunez, a 32-year-old woman from Fort Worth, Texas, tragically passed away on July 31, 2022. She was shot in the back at her home in the 2800 block of Mesquite Road in north Fort Worth. The incident occurred shortly before 6 a.m., and despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, she was pronounced dead around 8:30 a.m.
Following the incident, a 17-year-old suspect named Jose Lira was arrested in connection with her death.
Lira was charged with murder and also faced additional charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated robbery, and evading arrest. He was held in the Tarrant County Jail on a $552,000 bond. The police have not released information about a possible motive for the shooting.
Judiria Nunez is survived by her parents, Jesus Manuel Nunez and Bertha Alicia Nunez; her husband, Sergio Mata Gallegos; her sons, Sergio Mata Jr., and Maximiliano Mata; her daughter, Carolina Mata; her brother, Eberardo Nunez; and her sister, Viridiana Nunez. Her death has left a significant void in the lives of her family and friends, who continue to mourn her loss.
The case remains under investigation, and the community awaits further details as the legal proceedings against the suspect progress.
