Burns was fatally shot during an altercation that began when a man walked past him. The suspect, described as a Latin male between 20-30 years old, fled the scene after shooting Burns.
Another man, also 26 years old, was injured in the leg during the incident and was treated at a local hospital.
The investigation into Burns' death revealed that he and another man attempted to pull weapons from their waistbands during the argument. The suspect, later identified as Roman Pargas Jr., 23 years old, allegedly shot Burns and the other victim before running away. Pargas Jr. was arrested on August 24, 2022, in connection with the homicide. He was charged with murder and taken into custody by Dallas police.
