Raymond Herrera Jr., a 72-year-old man from Livingston, Texas, died months after being shot by a man who was reportedly his friend.
The shooting occurred on November 16, 2022. According to an arrest affidavit, 70-year-old Kenny Wade Fisher was at Herrera’s home to check on him when Herrera became upset. As Fisher was leaving in his truck, Herrera followed him down the driveway. From inside the vehicle, Fisher shot Herrera in the neck with a handgun.
The affidavit stated that Fisher had warned Herrera he would shoot, but it also noted that Herrera had not physically assaulted Fisher or attempted to enter the truck.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an emergency call near Holly Hill Road, which had been placed by Fisher himself. On the scene, Fisher admitted to investigators that he had shot Herrera. The wounded Herrera was transported to a medical facility in Conroe for treatment. He survived for several months before he succumbed to his injuries.
During the investigation, Fisher confessed to shooting his friend in an interview with a detective. After consulting with the Polk County District Attorney’s Office, authorities secured a warrant for his arrest. Kenny Wade Fisher was arrested and charged with murder. He was booked into the Polk County Jail with his bond set at $150,000. The case was proceeding through the justice system as of his arrest in March 2023.
