Patrolman Samuel Houston Childress, aged 33, was a dedicated officer of the Bristol, Tennessee Police Department. On the night of August 6, 1903, he was tragically shot and killed by a police officer from Bristol, Virginia, named Grat Walk. The incident occurred due to a dispute between the two officers.
