Alonzo Brownlow "Lon" Tyler, aged 50, was a Deputy Sheriff with the Hancock County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee. On April 22, 1961, Deputy Tyler and his colleague, Deputy Alex Morris, were shot and killed while attempting to arrest a county constable for drinking and driving. The constable led the deputies on a pursuit that ended at his home. When the deputies arrived, seven members of the constable's family opened fire, killing both Deputy Tyler and Deputy Morris.
