On a spring evening in Sneedville, Tennessee, a tragic and violent encounter cut short the life of Deputy Sheriff Alex Gary Morris, Sr. He was a 48-year-old lawman serving with the Hancock County Sheriff's Office. On April 23, 1961, Deputy Morris and his partner, Deputy Alonzo Tyler, attempted to arrest a local county constable who was suspected of drinking and driving.
