Deputy Sheriff Allen Richard Lipford, aged 28, was shot and killed on December 11, 1991, in Mountain City, Tennessee. Lipford was a dedicated officer with the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, having served for eight years. He was fatally shot by a felon who had escaped from the county jail after overpowering two other deputies and taking one's service revolver.
