In the quiet, rural landscape of Greene County, Tennessee, a dedicated public servant's life was tragically cut short in the line of duty. Sergeant Ricky Dale Coyle, a 41-year-old White male, was a respected officer with the Greene County Sheriff's Department. On September 25, 1995, he was investigating a seemingly routine hit-and-run accident on Stagecoach Road in Greeneville. The situation, however, would soon escalate into a fatal confrontation.
