In the late hours of December 4, 2002, a dedicated public servant, 32-year-old George Monroe Selby, a Caucasian male, met a tragic and untimely end. A deputy sheriff with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, Selby was part of a narcotics unit tasked with serving a search warrant at a residence on Chattering Lane in Memphis. As the deputies announced their presence, the situation quickly escalated when shots were fired from within the house.
