In the summer of 2013, a domestic dispute between a Knoxville couple culminated in the tragic death of their infant daughter. Six-month-old Kelsey Breanne Major, a baby girl born in November 2012, was fatally shot on June 19, 2013. The incident occurred on Alcoa Highway, where an altercation between her parents, Angela Michelle Major and Kenneth Allen Mason, escalated with deadly consequences.
Authorities reported that the infant was caught in the crossfire of her parents' dispute.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and the gravely injured baby was rushed to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Kelsey Breanne Major was pronounced dead. The handgun allegedly used in the incident was recovered at the scene by investigators.
In the aftermath of the fatal shooting, both Angela Michelle Major, who was 26 at the time, and Kenneth Allen Mason, then 40, were taken into custody. The Knox County Sheriff's Office charged both parents with reckless homicide in connection with their daughter's death. It was also reported that both individuals had extensive criminal histories prior to this incident.
