Deontrey Southers, a 13-year-old African American boy from Chattanooga, TN, tragically died on January 21, 2014, in a local hospital. He was an 8th grader at East Lake Academy and an active member of the football team and The Refuge Church. Deontrey was also involved in the Gear Up and Goodwill Youth Mentoring Program.
